Yet an exclusive research study conducted for Accelerate by IDG Research Services makes clear that many companies are encountering stumbling blocks as they roll out their virtualization strategy. Some, for example, say that virtualizing their data center took longer than expected. Others say they have yet to see the returns they anticipated from virtualization. Still others are having trouble even calculating what returns they’ve collected.

Joe Staples, Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing for Interactive Intelligence, says, “In a recent poll by IDG Research, 88 percent of CIOs and IT people interviewed agreed with the statement: ‘The biggest return on investment from business process automation comes from eliminating latency in processes and minimizing human error.’ Then they asked them what best described the relationship between UC and business process automation. 50 percent said ‘I see where communications technology could be used to automate business processes,’ and 37 percent said ‘I see where it could be incorporated into process automation applications.’ So 87 percent show a nice link between UC and business process automation, something we also found encouraging.”

Navigating the Economic Crisis: Who Is Confident And Why Research on Building Trust in Business Points to How Some Companies Remain Upbeat — Despite the Tough Times

New research results from Interaction Associates show that two-thirds of the people surveyed – 66% of respondents – say they are “extremely or very confident” in their company’s ability to successfully navigate the current downturn. Companies that self-report strong leadership are even more confident, at 88%.

The findings emerge in a recent survey of trust, leadership, and collaboration commissioned by Interaction Associates and involving leaders at 211 companies from a broad range of industries and company sizes.

Interaction Associates commissioned IDG Research Services to conduct the Building Trust in Business survey as part of IA’s 40th anniversary celebration in 2009.
